The Collective Bargaining Agreement is negotiated once every two years between the GTFF and the University. Bargaining for the 2012-14 contract will begin in November, 2011.
Simple put, bargaining is our right to sit with the employer and tell them what GTFs need to be more productive, engaged, and effective members of the campus community. We try to find common ground and common goals with the UO and work on solutions to our shared issues. We always strive to work in co-operation with the UO whenever possible.
There are times, however, when the GTFF and the UO cannot come to an agreement or your bargaining team is unable to convince the UO that we share problems that need solutions. In those times, the membership of the GTFF seeks ways to convince the UO that we are sincere in our bargaining agenda and we will stand together to achieve the things we believe are in the interests of GTFs and the UO.
